Looks like a Bunting.  This time of the year, Black-faced Bunting and Little Bunting are more common.

Certainly a bunting. It looks like female Black-faced to me.

It doesn't look like a Tristram's, which I would expect to look more rufous around the body and darker around the face. It's not the best photo to show the face, underparts or tail but looks to be yellow underneath, with a reasonably pronounced face pattern. Like I said in the previous message, I think it's probably a female Black-faced.

I'm not sure where you mean by "NSE" - in most places in HK, Black-faced is the commonest bunting at this time of year. Tristram's is more or less confined to woodland/forest.

pls forgive my typing error, s/b "NSW"3551875328cc445 . The bird is found on a death tree trunk among  mangrove forest alongside of the KAM TIN RIVER.
Anyway, your clear elaboration about different species of bunting duly noted. As a new bird watcher, all these are valued info. for ID in the future & I'm really excited to take my 1st photo about bunting (Black-faced Bunting this time)3551em012445 .
Again, thank you very much to both chings35513473749b445 !
