Malayan Night Heron sub-adult
Graham Talbot found and digiscoped (!!) this rather wet-looking sub-adult gorsachius Night Heron shortly after the rain stopped on Po Toi early this morning (Friday 7th). I saw it about 30 minutes later.

We presume it is Malayan although its overall brownish colour is very different to the grey-brown of last year's sub-adult bird, see this photo of last year's bird for comparison

Can anyone explain the difference?

Perhaps its just at a different stage of moulting or plumage to the previous bird?? I was looking through OBC and found this one, this one is very brownish in colour too.:
