VERY strange looking bird.
And surely ex-captive.
Interested to hear what others think, but I guess most likely ORW.

Well I agree on ORW. But I would not be surprised if it hadn't lost its tail to a cat or accipiter.

how about juvenile moult? I often see juvenile birds (e.g. Prinias, tailorbirds, Magpie robins and so on) which has nearly no tail.
But obviously not strange like this.

Nothing strange about this, just an Oriental Reed Warbler in (typically) heavy post-juvenile moult.
