This must be a good candidate for Red-breasted Flycatcher (pale base to lower bill, warm breast and head tones, brown longest upper-tail coverts) but the call would be the conclusive feature.
The difference can be heard in this sound clip. The first two calls are Red-breasted, the second two are Red-throated

both sounds recorded in autumn 2008.
It would be about the right timing also - previous autumn records of Red-breasted on Po Toi have been early November

I think it must be Red-breasted Flycatcher. In addition to the pale lower mandible note the brown uppertail coverts in the first photo.

Sorry, I originally typed Red-throated Flycatcher erroneously which might have given you the wrong idea and caused you to change the title. I do really think this is a 1st winter Red-breasted Flycatcher!! There is an excellent comparison here.

Others please weigh if you disagree.

Thanks a lot to Geoff and Brendan for the id. correction.
I have changed the title.
