White-headed Munias are not a common pet bird at the Mongkok Bird Street (at least between 2008-2009).
Some caged pet birds are in good conditions but some are not. So, just the plumage condition alone cannot justify their origin. Nevertheless, HK appears to be out of the natural range of the White-headed Munia.

I suspect that some escaped birds must have established a small breeding colony in the area. We will just have to wait and see whether numbers keep increasing or the species disappears.

Remember that religious release often includes many small birds at one time - munias are often used, but it does seem strange to bring them from so far away.

由我第一次見一對(7/10)，至現在見六隻(12/10)，期間層見過有些是頭白中帶棕色(11/10)，不知是否幼鳥？會是在本地的育幼呢？
這是我一廂情願的想法
但看見它們能自由自在地飛翔，也不理會它們是否是放生鳥或是真正野鳥了。
