this morning, I can hear koel calling in south of yuen long.

Been a pair around my garden for the last week & suprised the female a little when she came in at eye level about 20' away while I was photographing sunbirds from my roof.
Beautifil breeding plumage with a lot of white.
Both have been hanging round the fruit trees ever since.

Heard my first for the year last Sat. (3/2) at Tsing Yi, then 4/2 at Sai Kung.

This evening (Feb 9th) a savannah nightjar was calling here on Lamma - the earliest I can remember. Must have been fooled by the sudden warm weather into thinking it is spring.

Savannah Nightjars (up to 4) have been calling around Kam Tin for at least the last week.
Greater Painted-snipe have also started displaying there now (one heard on 11th night)
