First BFS arrived to Mai Po

Three Black-faced Spoonbills (one sub-adult and two juveniles) were spotted at Mai Po since last week. Two of these birds (the sub-adult and one juvenile) were probably the ones to stay over the summer and so the other juvenile is the first one to arrive Mai Po in the second half of the year. The first birds usually arrived Mai Po around mid-October and this record shows that the bird might arrive early this year.

從上週開始,有三隻黑臉琵鷺(一隻亞成,兩隻幼鳥)在米埔出現, 今年夏天有兩隻(1隻是亞成,另一隻是幼鳥)逗留, 所以新到達的是一隻幼鳥. 一般第一隻渡冬的琵鷺通常會在10月中到達,今年的可能早了來到米埔.

There are now four Black-faced Spoonbills at Mai Po, since at least Monday (1st)

I saw 4 on the mudflats this morning.
