Slender-billed Gull?
Hi all,
Found a single gull on the mudflat far far away from the BW hides which kinda matches the description of the Slender-billed gull in Mai Po on 1 March, 2014.
Sorry about the image quality as it's really far away. (Photos taken with Swarovski ATX 95@70x with D7000 and is heavily cropped to further enlarge the image)
Is it a slender-billed gull or is it a red-billed one with dirty plumage?
Many thanks!
Jes

Hi Jes, I think this is also a Black-headed Gull with dirty plumage,,,,
As shown in the Photographic guide of HONG KONG,,,slender-billed Gull will have a paler marks behind eyes,,,,
the photo you take show a strong and dark mark behind the eyes,,,,,
Correct me if I'm wrong,,,,!!^^

Thanks John.
I mixed it up (its name) with the Red-billed Gull.
Yes, the black spot behind its ear makes it looks like a black-headed gull indeed.
