It was rather disappointing that no kettle (wheeling activity) was observed during the visits to Castle Rock (Po Toi Rock) from around 10:30-11:30am and then 3-4pm on 26th August 2014. The number of terns was limited to a few dozens, comprising mainly bridled and black-naped terns.  Only one roseate tern was observed.  Probably the main body of the terns has already left?

Yes, there certainly seemed fewer terns to me this week than the week before, so probably some have left, particularly Roseate - I only counted two last Thursday with 20 the week before and more than 100 in the first week of August.

Bridled are still around, I counted 30 this week with 40 the week before. But they go off fishing during the day sometimes, they don't fish around the Rock like Black-naped but go off to the south of Lamma Island where they have a regular fishing ground.

Thank you for advice, Geoff.
Hope that I can watch wheeling of terns next year.
By the way, the seafood restaurant at Po Toi Island is good though a bit expensive.
