Hainan 海南 12.2014

3 sites were visited in this 7-day trip :
- Dongzhai Harbour Nature Reserve(wetland) 東寨港自然保護區(濕地)
  just stopped by a couple of hours on the way to Bawangling
- Bawangling National Nature Reserve霸王嶺國家自然保護區
- Jianfengling National Forest Park 尖峰嶺國家森林公園

Among these 3 sites, the best one during our visit was Jianfengling. When we walked along the under-2-mile boardwalk to the top of the mountain, very often bird wavss with good birds were met. The only drawback of this park was the mist in the afternoon.

The "Grey-throated Minivet" is a female Scarlet Minivet.

Jianfengling is a great site, I think.

Great stuff~ Bring back good memories, agree with John, Jianfengling is very good, good food as well!!

Thanks John & Matthew. For me, Jianfengling is definitely one of the best birding sites in China for such great variety of bird species; distance of the birding trail is also relatively short though sometimes slippery. Of course one needs a bit of luck to meet a large bird wave; in my 3-day stay I didn't see any Ratchet-tailed Treepie while my friends saw it for more than once. We also enjoyed the food there, as the operator of the resort is a former chef who cooks for the customers now.
