It seems to be a black-throated thrush.

Thrushes can sometimes be tricky to identify. Black-throated Thrush is not on the Hong Kong list. I think the bird in the photo is Japanese Thrush, a regular winter visitor to Hong Kong.

Yes, you are right, the white throat patch on the Japanese Thrush's is likely to be hidden in the photo as it turns its head to its right.
