Sooty Tern
From the Ma Liu Shui to Tap Mun Ferry today, feeding with Bridled, Black-naped and Roseate Terns.
(Mike Leven has pointed out that this is a first summer bird, NOT a juvenile)

Great photos John!
But it is a first summer, not a juvenile, note two ages of flight feathers.
Cheers
Mike

Two Sooty Terns
Thanks, everyone !
Graham Talbot saw TWO Sooty Terns yesterday from the shore at Ma On Shan.
Reviewing my shots - the first three photos are of the same individual, taken on the morning ferry circuit.
This fourth shot - compare with the first - shows an individual with more of a scaly back and more white around the face. It was taken on the afternoon ferry trip.

Great found John!
May I know the photo taken on afternoon was shot at Tolo Channel (near Ma On Shan) or Long Harbour (near Tap Mun)?

The afternoon photo (also taken Wednesday, 3rd Aug) was near Ma On Shan, Tolo channel.
