Great photos Paux, really bring back memories of my recent trip to Cape Town too. I believe your owl is a Spotted Eagle Owl instead of a Cape, they have more fine barrings on the belly instead of dark spots that you expect on a Cape. Great bird none the less.

Thank you for your info. I've missed many of the local beauties, like the Cape Rockjumper you took. Perhaps I should join a birding tour or hire a bird guide if I visit Cape Town again.
