Videoscoping with the new Sony HDR-SR8
I've bought a Sony HD video (100 gig hard drive,Carl Zeiss 10x zoom ) for upcoming trips to Egypt and India. I took it to Mai Po this week to learn how to use it. As I had some eyepieces with me and the right adapters (52 - 37 mm ) I hooked it up to the scope. There was vignetting with the Swarovski 30x so it would work better with a long Eye Relief , low powered eyepiece , like the Scopetronix Maxview 40 series (11.5x magnification on the Swarovski STS80HD scope ).
It also has a 6.1 meg photo mode which can write to the HD or a Sony Memory Stick.
Here is a cropped image from the Photo function.

ps I ran the cropped image through Noiseware and CS2
Sony HDR SR8 plus Swarovski STS80HD scope and Sw 30x eyepiece and DCA adapter.
