Question on Po Toi

Hi, I'm wondering on how to bird on po toi, such as which path to take, or what to do. I'm mainly focusing on woodland birds, but also seabirds. I went to po toi once, but I did not locate an birds as I did not know which way to go. Can I have some help on how to bird on po toi and best way to watch seabirds in Hong Kong?

Here are the main paths to follow on Po Toi, for Landbirds and Seabirds

Landbirds

Follow the red and brown paths but no need to go to as far as The Temple or beyond the trees on the path above the School or much beyond the Football Field next to the Sister's Cafe. Some brown paths above are now overgrown, you may need to push through.
Good places include the tree areas near the Pier (walk the path around the area a few times), The Helipad and the trees behind the Toilets and the climb up to the Upper Reservoir, going up on the path beside the Sister's cafe, up Green Pigeon Lane and back via Tiger Lane.

Seabirds

The main location to watch seabirds is the rocks at the southern end of Po Toi, Nam Kok Tsui. Sit there and look out towards the Dangan Islands. Almost all spring seabirds are coming from your right across in front of you to your left (south west to north east).
To get there, follow the path out of the Sister's Cafe and walk about 20 minutes along the left-hand red path above, no need to go up to the lighthouse, until you come to the closest point to Nam Kok Tsui, then you have to scramble over the rocks (take care!)

But I would not go seabirding if you are only on Po Toi for the day. Early morning is the best time to seabird, it takes time to get there and you usually need to sit for at least one hour. For a day visit, better to spend your time in the main Landbird area and cover it thoroughly. You never know where good birds could be.

If you get lost, you can usually find a birder to ask.
