9/10/08 Long Valley Highlights
Greetings all,
Spent an hour and a half this morning checking for anything new- had a couple of FOS (First of Season) for me for the area, including 1 Pacific Golden Plover and 4 Marsh Sandpiper.
1 Pacific Golden Plover (allowed a fairly close approach, which I really appreciated as it was a lifer for me in my fledgling birding career)
4 Marsh Sandpiper (as reported earlier)
7 Zitting Cisticola
1 Dusky Warbler (FOS for me)
12 Black-winged Stilt
10 Siberian Stonechat
8 Common Teal
2 Greater Painted Snipe
The usual suspects included a couple of Grey Herons, White-throated and Common Kingfishers, a few Sooty-headed Bulbuls, several Cattle and Great Egrets, and abundant Wagtails (Yellow and White), Snipe (Common, Pintail/Swinhoe), Plovers (Little Ringed and Kentish) and Sandpipers (Green, Wood, Common).
Good birding,
Wes Homoya

Thank you so much for the report, whomoya!
It was a good birding trip.
Would you mind telling me what time did you start the birding in Long Valley? Is it very early morning?
Thank you!

As I often do, I began right at dawn, so a little after 6am. I will do the same this coming Tuesday until about 8am when I will head to Mai Po for the day.
