Only 2 Greater Painted-snipe have been flagged in Hong Kong - a pair trapped at Mai Po on 30 April 2007.

This father has also been photographed with chick last summer. So it has been at least breeding at Mai Po #16/17 for 2 consecutive summer!

Greater Painted-snipe do show very strong site fidelity. Even at Kam Tin, where there is widespread habitat suitable for use, the birds will return to the same locations at the same time of year each year.
