What happened to its wing???
184 Black-naped Tern 黑枕燕鷗
August 2009
D2x + AF-S VR 300mm + 1.7x
This juvenile Black-naped Tern was found in August 2009 during tern survey. When we saw it the first time, its wing was missing primaries already. It could fly, but was quite clumsy and close to the water surface most of the time.
What could be the reason(s) to its damaged wing?

Made a mistake in flight or landing? Collision damaged the wing, I think.

I think it might be dropped from its "nest" to lower rocks when it's still a chick.
