Unbelievable!!!3551em016445

Maybe it was getting too tired or sick? 3551a50445

It is a juvenile/female, and is probably a sick bird.  I once picked up a sick Schrenck's Bittern on a motor road in Shek Kep Mei.  The bird was sent to Kadoorie and died later.

Thanks for the report. I understand HKBWS members love wild birds. But let a sick bird walking on a busy street is not a good option.

Next time members can call Police at 999 in order to rescue the bird. Police will call SPCA and then it will send to Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden for treatment.

many thanks

Captain

There was Schrenck's Bittern record in Lung Fu Shan Country Park. But this bird looks really sick...3551cry445
You may check the bird record of Hung et al. (2006) or thread from wildlife.net

Hung, T. H., S. H. Sung, W. K. Fu and P. Y. Yuen. 2006. The bird fauna of Lung Fu Shan and the University of Hong Kong. Porcupine!, 34: 20-23.
