Cranes at Arasaki, near Izumi City, Kyushu, Japan

We made a quick visit to the Crane Centre at Arasaki, Izumi City, Kyushu, Japan - 1st to 3rd February 2023.

HK has direct flights to Kagoshima, then it's an 80km drive in a hire car.....there are over 12,000 wintering cranes in the area in total, nearly all Hooded (the most common) and White-naped Crane. The Visitor Centre volunteers led us to the Siberian and Sandhill Cranes, feeding in the area.
