KCRC’s Lok Ma Chau Spur Line will open around midyear. Up to 4,000 birds of 42 species, including Black-faced Spoonbills and Lesser White-fronted Geese, were drawn to the 37 hectares of compensation wetland. Located within the Frontier Closed Area, the wetland will not be open to the public but KCRC is considering the provision of telescopes for passengers to view the birds from the station.
九鐵落馬洲濕地招來4000鳥
支線年中通車 斥4600萬元進行補償工程
【明報專訊】當年因建築方案影響塱原濕地而引起訴訟的九鐵落馬洲支線，今年中便會通車。九鐵展開的37頃濕地補償工程最近已竣工，並吸引了多種珍貴雀鳥如黑臉琵鷺、小白額雁等停留。
由於濕地位於禁區範圍，濕地不會向公眾開放，但九鐵考慮在車站設置望遠鏡，讓乘客在站內觀賞雀鳥。
