I have two requests for information

1. Up to two immature large gulls, Heuglin's or Caspian, were seen from the Mai Po boardwalk in May and July 2014 (last year). This is the first time large gulls have been seen in Hong Kong in May or July and we would like to make a positive identification of species.
If anyone has photographs of a large gull from May or any time in summer 2014, would they please send me at the email below.

2. A male Cotton Pygmy Goose was photographed in the Lok Ma Chau area on 16 May 2015 (this year). This is a very interesting record for us, the seventh HK record of this species.
If anyone saw or photographed this bird, would they please send me details at the email below.

My thanks to those who replied to this request with information and photographs.

As a result, I can confirm that a first year Heuglin's Gull spent last summer 2014 at the Mai Po boardwalk, the first time this has been recorded to my knowledge. Photos and observations of this bird covered all of the months June to August.

I can also confirm that a male Cotton Pygmy Goose was in the Lok Ma Chau area from 16 to 18 May 2015.
