[Oversea] Western Australia - March 2012

Western Australia - March 2012

Spent 5 days birding around Perth, Australia in March 2012. Nine southwest Australian endemic species were seen:  Long-billed and Short-billed Black Cockatoo, Western Rosella, Red-capped Parrot, Red-winged Wren, Western Thornbill, Western Spinebill, White-breasted Robin and Red-eared Firetail. Other good birds seen for the Perth Area were Spotted Harrier (rare), Crested Shrike-tit, Red-kneed Dotterel, White-bellied Sea-eagle and Red-capped Robin. 118 species were recorded in total.

Itinerary:
March 15: Herdsman Lake and Lake Monger
March 16: Rockingham Area--Penguin Island, Lakes Richmond, Cooloongup and Walyungup
March 17: Victoria Dam and Yangebup Lake
March 18: Bungendore Park, Glen Eagles, Alfred Cove Nature Reserve, Burns Beach
March 19: Collins Road, Brookton, Burns Beach, and Lake Joondalup
