X'mas is round the corner and managed to get through 21/12/12 without incident .. so here we are in Laguna, Phuket for the next 9 days with my family from Adelaide and another pair of friends from HK ..

we landed and got settled down around 4pm before heading off to roam the local areas ...

the weather was overcast with a slight drizzle at times, I believe the weather will be very much the same throughout this week.

other than the two which i manage to catch on camera,.. there was also a couple of common kingfisher by a small pond next to a  construction site as well a 4-5 very small scarlet-backed flower peckers and loads of white vented mynas .. little and common egret were also readily available ..

how hong kong seems infested with red-whiskered bulbul, the population of stripe-throated bulbul seems comparable here.

Day 2 was spent on the Laguna Golf Course ..

not much action at sunrise since it was raining until almost 7:30am ..

i was hoping to hire a guide but we were too late and have been left to venture out ourselves.

of all the websites (mostly commercial sites run tour operators, i found this one to be most useful and independent ..http://www.phuketbirdwatching.com, i have been in email contact with Ike who runs this website is very helpful too!
