Asian Paradise Flycatcher 壽帶鳥

28 Aug 2011 Braemar Hill, Hong Kong

We found two in a small bird wave.  Very lucky indeed.

The second bird is a Japanese Paradise Flycatcher. Note the darker brown tones to the mantle and tail, not so rich reddish as in Asian. So doubly lucky for so early in the autumn!!

Dear Paul,

Thank you for the comments.

I have reviewed my photos and read the previous ID links and still find it very difficult to distinguish APF from JPF.  The attached two photos show my first bird from different angles and colours seem to vary.  Need to learn more and thanks again!
