Has been very quiet the last week & as such have not bothered doing posting sightings.
Notables have been:
Pale-Legged Leaf Warbler
Arctic Warbler
Dusky Warbler
Emerald Dove - m
Red-throated Flycatcher - f
Daurian Redstart - f
Starting today with sightings & weather info...

(Mugimaki was later identified as a female HAINAN BLUE FLYCATCHER)

Steady action for most of the day albeit mainly Bulbuls... except 15:00-16:00 (zero) ... weather was overcast early on... brightened up after about 10:00, but then started dying away as soon as the sun drew closer to the mist/pollution layer....

Very busy in the morning with fairly bright light... slackened off after about 14:00 & very quiet after 15:00... most of the usual birds came in at one time or another during the day, but nothing new... very little breeze around all day... 8 Japanese White-eye came in & bathed at one time in the afternoon..

Nice & bright all day long with reasonable breezes... light stayed good longer & stayed to 18:00..

Not much time spent at the pond although was very busy... dramatic moment was at about 13:30 when a probable Besra swooped & snatched a Chinese Bulbul from a branch on the edges of the pond... hardly saw it as it smashed through the foliage at high speed.. the day was a little breezy & chilly albeit a beautiful & sunny all day..

Only spent an hour mid-afternoon & a couple of hours late afternoon at the pond...lots of action for the whole time with a first visit by a female Pale thrush, 3 1st winter Scaly-breasted Munia, & a new male Siberian Rubythroat... day started with a light shower at about 04:00, but from then on was beautiful & sunny...

Noticeably cooler early morning, warming up during the day .... steady action at the pond but nothing new... would expect the birds that were brought down by the cooler weather to start finding the pond in the next few days....

Another chilly day although slightly warmer than yesterday with very little breeze... which may have been reflected in the steady flow of birds throughout the day... the only notable was a first visit to the pond by a first winter female MUGIMAKI FLYCATCHER...(Should read... RED-THROATED FLYCATCHER)

Very overcast & cloudy & still quite chilly.... however..... a completely different day from yesterday with greater bird flow throughout the day with a greater number of migrant birds....

Fairly bright in the morning but became cloudy & overcast as the day progressed... regardless.... a lot of action, albeit dominated by the Chinese & red-whiskered Bulbuls..... seems some new birds are arriving ahead of next weeks cold front....

Day started overcast, but developed into a nice sunny day....extremely busy day dominated by Bulbuls again... quiet times as usual between 11-12:00 & 15:00-16:00........good showing of migrant thrushes again with 48 turning up at the pond today.... think the numbers will increase with the approaching cold weather next week...

Cold, cloudy, & dry... reasonable light in the morning but not great... fair amount of action in the pond, but nothing new.... the afternoon was very overcast with a little drizzle early evening and was much more productive with 62 migrant thrush arriving at the pond mainly between 16:00-18:00..... surprisingly large number of male vs female Grey-backed Thrush, & female vs male Japanese Thrush... first time in a long time the Asian Stubtail didn't put in an appearance which was probably down to all the thrush commotion......after leaving the pond heard lots of thrush calls on the hillsides... tomorrow could be a good thrush day...

Overcast with some bright periods in the afternoon.... fairly busy although I dismantled & rebuilt all the foliage in & around the pond.... didn't stop a first visit of the season by a female RED-FLANKED BLUETAIL.... I read today that this January was the warmest in Hong Kong since records began in 1885.... which most likely explains the small numbers of migrants visiting the pond this winter...

Busy all day albeit dominated by Bulbuls as usual... light was really good... first visit of a female Brown-headed Thrush, & 3 visits by the female Brambling...

You've had some good Thrush records in a generally "poor" Thrush winter....

John... have been ok ish... but as you say, generally poor.... which is a shame when you consider that with so little rain it should have been a perfect winter for the pond

Humid & sticky most of the day although reasonable light until about 16:30 when it became quite dreadful... although no rain... first visit by a Hainan Blue Flycatcher & 2 Blue & White Flycatcher in quick succession between 17:00 & 17:30 although could have been delayed by some of the 9 Hwamei to visit the pond & the Waterhen which spent at least 30 mins at the pond eating what looked like fruit pips in the pond... only a single male Japanese Thrush & a Rufous-tailed Robin....
