Any habitat management at MPNR in 2018?
In most years during the summer, WWF carries out large-scale habitat management work at Mai Po to improve the habitats for wildlife. Usually this involves draining and desilting a gei wai on the reserve, often funded by the annual Big Bird Race.
This year there doesn't seem to be any work ongoing, despite being well into the summer. WWF have not posted anything about proposed habitat management on this website or at the reserve about any habitat management work that is currently planned. Although GW#10 is currently drained, this looks like the usual annual draindown and there is no suggestion that there will be any active management of the site. The BBR webpage suggests that the money was scheduled to be used for management at GW#3/4, and I haven't seen any equipment or activity at this site so far.
Does anyone know what is going on? Will there be any active habitat management work at Mai Po this year?
