27 brave birdwatchers joined the Tai Po Kau outing on a very cold morning.  The highlight is the male and female Orange-bellied Leafbird guarding their favourite nectering flowers, by imitating the Crested Goshawk call from time to time.  We also have a very good view of a male Buff-bellied Flowerpecker.
We still have 33 species in spite of very few birds.  Thanks Peter for help taking the outing.  The person who have paid membership fee on site should contact HKBWS office to register membership properly.

Or do u mean Bay Woodpecker?? I am sure Rufous Woodpecker is a different species??

Don't know...... if that is a Rufous Woodpecker , this will be the third(?) record in Hong Kong

Few got to see the Bay Woodpecker in Tai Po Kau yet.  We only heard it calling.  I suspect the call could also be an imitation from a OB Leafbird.

Undoubtedly OB Leafbird is a very effective mimic, but equally undoubtedly there are at least two Bay Woodpeckers in TPK at the moment.

I stayed behind after leaving the Tai Po Kau Outdoor Study Centre. On the way returning to Tsung Tsai Yuen, a crowd of Silver-eared Mesia was seen. Thanks for Mr. Man played their voice by his MP3 player, a lot of photos were taken. Let's share some of them.
