Baikal Teal: Vulnerable to Least Concern

The IUCN Red List has been revised recently and there is one change relating to us:


Baikal Teal: Vulnerable to Least Concern.


It means it is no longer 'threatened'.

In case of member's interesting to know all the threatened and near-threatened bird species recorded in Hong Kong, I list all these species below:

This is a fascinating list.  I would not have guessed some of these birds such as Yellow-breasted Bunting are vulnerable or threatened.

VU:
Lesser White-fronted Goose

It always interests me that such a small place as HK has such a large list of threatened species, compared to Europe or N America. I think this reveals how important HK is for birds, but also how threatened many birds are in Asia!

Japanese Quail has also been listed as "Near Threatened" since 2010.
