Tuesday 6 October.
After the storm, the rain. A wet day today on Po Toi.
Best bird was this Grey Nightjar, doing what Nightjars do in the big tree near the Upper Reservoir (Green Pigeon Tree for those who can remember 2006).
Also today, not all seen by me, a good number of Asia Brown, Grey-streaked and a single Dark-sided Flycatcher but no other flycatchers, an Ashy Minivet, a Dusky Warbler, the Common Myna again and a migrant flock of eight Grey Herons, with a single Red-necked Phalarope from the Ferry.
Plus the usual Dollarbirds, Black-naped Orioles, at least one Black-winged Cuckoo-shrike and at least five Brown Shrikes including this one which has a head injury and has lost an eye
The reddish-brown colour on the back and crown show this to be the ssp
cristatus, the usual autumn ssp but not the spring ssp which is
lucionensis.
I won't be able to go on Thursday - hopefully others will.
