WWF Hong Kong Press Release : 22 May 2007
Record numbers of breeding Black-winged Stilt at Mai Po Nature Reserve
米埔自然保護區內黑翅長腳鷸繁殖數目創新高
This year's bird breeding season has got off to a flying start with the finding that at least 31 pairs of Black-winged Stilt are nesting inside the Mai Po Nature Reserve.
Black-winged Stilts first started to breed in Hong Kong in 2003 when 6 pairs successfully raised young at Mai Po. Each year thereafter more and more nested and now the Nature Reserve is established as a regular breeding site for the species. At present Mai Po is identified as the only place in Hong Kong where the Stilts breed.
