Pipit - prob Red-throated
I photographed this bird on the Mai Po access road this morning in soft morning light - not 100% sharp I'm afraid. I assume it is RTP - fine yellow bill with dark shadow above and tip, pinkish legs but it sees to lack any sort of sub-moustachial stripe in the side on photo although the face on shot suggests one. There is just a trace of red around the throat - almost like a collar and the bird is lightly streaked on the breast and flanks. There is some fringing to the greater coverts and the median coverts appear abraded. There are obvious white stripes partially visible on the back. I would welcome some expert diagnosis on either why it isn't RTP and if it is, what age is it? Many thanks.
Andrew
