Recording the location of ‘bird flocks’ - Mai Po & surrounding areas
From Nov 08 to Aug 09, 181 bird flocks were recorded and marked during the surveys.
42 were large size.
76 were median size
63 were small size.
Species composition is as follows:
Only two bird flocks were regarded as mixed species flock. They are Little Swift accompanied with Barn Swallow.
179 were single species flock. 73 flocks were Eurasian Tree Sparrow and most of the records were from Lut Chau.
Other frequently counted species were:
Red-billed Starling
Scaly-breasted Munia
Spotted Dove
Crested Myna
Barn Swallow
