3 Geese at Mai Po : 30 Oct 2010

Three Geese seen this morning flying over Mai Po, then again on the mudflat at about 11:00am. Some long distance photos were taken which hopefully will be posted later today. Its possible the birds are a mix of white-fronted and Bean.

Mai Po
30.10.2010.

I saw these geese walking around on the mudland between the new bird hide and the old bird hide at about 11.30am ( I was at the new bird hide). After staying about 10 minutes, they flew to the right hand side of the new bird hide and landed on the mudland far away. About 10 minutes later, our bird experts came and spoke to me about these birds.

The following photos were taken at about 11.34am from the new bird hide to the direction of the old bird hide.
There was one bean goose, I think, observing from the yellow spot on the greylish bill. The others may be white-fronted.

The following photos were digiscopic shots, unedited in order to keep every thing natural except changing from raw format to jpg.

These geese, which all loo like Bean (either Taiga or Tundra)  were first seen by Kwok Jai flying over the reserve and then picked up sitting on the mudflat from Tsim Bei Tsui.

Congratulations on getting pix of a potential first record for Hong Kong CW!
