雲南東北部及四川南部觀鳥行, 2006 年
Jemi and I spent Dec. 2006 on a trip from Lugu Lake in NE Yunnan Province to Muli in SW Sichuan. We went on to Luojishan (also in south Sichuan) and to a Black-necked Crane Wintering site in NE Yunnan Province called Daqiao ("Big Bridge") in Huize County. The link is here :

To cut a long story short; -
(i) we didn't find Garrulax bieti in Mahuang Gou, Muli, but we think we found the area Ben king surveyed in 1989.
(ii) I wouldn't recommend Luojishan as a "hot new birding site" for the reasons given in our report.
(iii) We found plenty of interesting people and good numbers of Black-necked Cranes at Daqiao in Huize County, NE Yunnan Province. Some up-to-date access details are given for various sites near Zhaotong.
