Dear Birdwatchers/Photographers,

A programme of ventilation improvements for birdwatching Hides #1, #7 and #8 will be conducted in August and September. This is to improve the flow of air within those hides during the hot summer months to help make conditions more comfortable.

Contractors will work during specified periods when the majority of waders are feeding on the Deep Bay inter-tidal mudflat. The maintenance period for each hide varies. Hide #1, the first to be repaired, will be temporarily closed from 08 – 17 August 2011. Further notice of the maintenance period for other hides will be posted in due course.

外判承辦商將會在指定時間內進行維修，亦即是大部份水鳥在泥灘覓食時進行工作。每間觀鳥屋工程時間有異。#1號觀鳥屋將會是第一間進行改善工程，此觀鳥屋將於8月8日至17日暫停開放。至於其他觀鳥屋的維修時間表，將容後公佈。

Hides #1 and #7 (at Gei wai #16/17) are both reopened to the public. Hope you enjoy the cooler conditions.

Hide #8 (at Gei wai #11) is currently being upgraded. It should be reopen by the middle of next week.

Upgrade work at Hide #8 will finish tomorrow. Therefore it can be used by the public from Saturday 03 September. Apologies for the delay which was due to a minor contractor issue.

The other hides will be upgraded gradually over the coming winter.

The ventilation system in Hides #3 and #5 will be upgraded between late September to October.

For your reference, the temporary closure of the hides will be:

Hide #3: 21 – 30 September 2011
Hide #5: 03 – 14 October 2011

Further notice of the maintenance period for other hides will be posted in due course.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank WWF for this new approach in the hides. The last time I visited the hides I got the impression that these were cooler than previously, and especially that they were not as stuffy. Hopefully this means that it will not be so uncomfortable sitting in the hides in mid-summer!
