Doesn't look like Hainan Blue.  Have you considered Blue and White female?

Isn't it female Green-backed Ficedula (narcissina) elisae?

I think it's a female Narcissus. I had considered Green-backed/Owston's but I don't the back really is green enough - I think it may be an artefact of lighting on this angle. The rufous tail looks good for Narcissus to me.

I am not sure if i still have shots of the front but i remember clearly that her chest has short brown markings going from the throat down .. Does that help?  Thanks again...

Yeah, agree with ajohn, and hadn't quite realised elisae has so little rufous to the tail.

There again not quite totally like female nominate should look (?), and on OBI seems closest to birds listed as elisae/owstoni photographed in HK!

Had posted that while other photos were being posted - still looks a bit yellowish to me for normal nominate narcissina.

thank you for all the feedback .. do we have a on consensus on this bird please?

Very like a bird seen on Po Toi at the weekend which ultimately seemed equally indeterminate.

Anybody got any photos of that bird?
