Small Asian Mongoose 紅頰獴 in LV

Small Asian Mongoose 紅頰獴 in LV

Photos taken on 6 Feb 2014 at Long Valley.
After some internet search, this is probably a Small Asian Mongoose (Herpestes javanicus) 紅頰獴 and its diet includes bird and bird's egg among others.  Please correct me if I am wrong.

I also saw this.

Are you sure it is the same species...  It seems that yours can fly.

Woh! Great find!!

TOP

Yes, you are righ.t  I saw one in Mai Po too last week.

I also saw one at the Frontier Closed Road in Mai Po on 8th March 2014. It ran quickly before I could take out my camera...

Small Asian Mongoose is fairly common at Mai Po, and is by far the most easily seen mammal on the reserve. They are also seen fairly regularly around other parts of Deep Bay and occasionally in other parts of the New Territories.

But I got chased by barking dogs at Frontier Closed Road more often than meeting Mongoose...
