After New York I flew to Orlando and met up with a digiscoping friend and we spent 2/5 days around the Orlando area visiting all the good wetland sites, including Merritt Island and Orlando Wetland Park.
There are many nesting Osprey in Florida right now which was nice to see and we had good looks at Swallow-tailed Kites although I didn't get any photos. The Black-whistling Ducks, Anhingas,Great Blue Herons and many other water birds were on the nest or feeding young. The weather was very nice but getting up to 100f .  We missed hurricanes and storms by a few hours everywhere we were so it is a risky time of year to travel there. Neil
