Starling ID

Can this be anything other than a white-cheeked starling?  If it is one, today's sighting on Lamma is three weeks earlier than the earliest listed in Avifauna

That definitely is a white-cheeked starling.

Early records have become commoner in recent years, since the publication of the Avifauna. This is still fairly early though.

Late spring records have also become commoner. The species has even stayed to breed at Kam Tin for the last three years.

Thanks for the useful information.  It's sometimes tempting not to report sightings outside the usual dates in case no-one believes you!  Of course a photo, even a record shot, helps a lot.
