Long billed curlew

Long billed curlew

I assumed this was a Eurasian Curlew out on the mudflats but the bill looks very long. More like Far Eastern Curlew.  Can anyone confirm? Neil

The pale whitish underparts would favour Eurasian Curlew.
Bill length is variable in curlews according to age and sex. I suspect that the mud covering the bill may also have an influence in this case.

The title of the post made me wonder if we finally had an american vagrant wader in Hong Kong!

Your caption will get one or two people going, Neil. Long-billed Curlew would be a first for Asia I think.

Anyway this is Eurasian Curlew, based on whitish lower underparts.

Just scrolled down and seen John's near-identical comment posted a few hours ago.

Sorry for duplication.
