The bill is all black, the wing-bar is white, the upper body is greyish-brown and the lower body is greyish-white.
On a Red-breasted Flycatcher, the lower mandible of the bill would be partly pale flesh-coloured, the wing-bar would be buff (light yellowish-brown), the upper body brown without the greyish tone and the lower body with more buff colour. Also the call note would be different.
We had a number of Red-breasted Flycatchers in Hong Kong in 2007 and 2008, but don't seem to have had so many recently. Author: cwchan Time: 12/02/2010 08:20
I am very glad to read Geoff's comment on the differences between Red-throated and Red-breasted Flycatcher. It is very informative to me. Author: ctakming Time: 12/02/2010 18:44
Thanks Geoff.
