Other two applications nearby. Also pond filling. 原來附近還有二個,都係填塘。
A/YL-NSW/197 is very close to a nesting colony of egrets and herons at Tung Shing Lane. If approved, abandonment of this colony is very likely as they like open landscape in front of their colony.
These pond filling applications (A/YL-NSW/195-196-197) will significant cause wetland loss and will have direct impacts on the nesting birds. As the flight distance from the nesting colony to their first landing habitat of nesting birds is 2 km, it is expected that these applications will have adverse impacts on the nesting birds at Tung Shing Lane. Also, net wetland loss in Deep Bay.

An alarming number of car parking spaces required for ten houses, from the gist:

Some keypoints learnt from the planning statements
A/YL-NSW/195-196
(1) within Wetland Conservation Area
(2) No ecological baseline study - no information about birds and other wildlife
(3) Cause direct wetland loss (fishpond loss) - but no mention the area of wetland loss
(4) No compensation plan. Just a landscape water body of unclear intention
(5) Is not in line with the "no net loss principle" of Town Planning Board guideline on developments in Deep Bay (TPBG No 12B)
(6) No study of the possible impact on a major nesting colony at Tung Shing Lane (about 80 nests)
A/YL-NSW/197
(1) No study of the possible impact on a major nesting colony at Tung Shing Lane (about 80 nests). The colony is within 50 m of the subject area
(2) No ecological baseline study - no information about birds and other wildlife
(3) Cause direct wetland loss (fishpond loss) - but no mention the area of wetland loss
(4) No compensation plan.
