Egrets and herons are waterbirds which are mostly found at shallow coastal water. People who live in the New Territories, for example, Shatin, Tai Po and Tuen Mun will have more chance to find them feeding and resting alongside the river channels. In the 2009 breeding season, researchers recorded a total of 809 nests at 19 known colonies in Hong Kong (including 6 colonies in the Deep Bay area). And breeding egrets which can be found in these colonies are Great Egrets, Little Egrets, Black-crowned Night Herons, Chinese Pond Herons and Cattle Egrets.

In this lecture, Mr. Captain WONG will tell us interesting stories of these waterbirds. He will also share his experience of searching the Hainan and Guizhou Provinces for the nesting colonies of egrets.

鷺鳥是水鳥的一種，經常在近岸的淺水區活動。居住在新界例如沙田、大埔和屯門的市民，會有較多機會找到沿著河道覓食和休息的鷺鳥。2009年的繁殖季節，調查人員在香港19個已知的鷺鳥繁殖群落中（其中6個繁殖群落位於后海灣範圍），共錄得809個鳥巢，而在這些繁殖群落可找到的鷺鳥包括大白鷺、小白鷺、夜鷺、池鷺和牛背鷺。

是次講座，講者黃倫昌先生將向大家講解這些水鳥的有趣故事。黃先生亦會分享他在海南及貴州省尋找鷺鳥繁殖地的經歷。
