Activity information
Date: 25/4/2010 Sunday
Time: 07:30 - 16:00
Gathering Time & Place: 07:30 Aberdeen Public Pier, near Ocean Court

[Please note that the gathering place is changed to Aberdeen. The group will get on the boat and leave Aberdeen sharp at 7:30am. Please be punctual!!]

Fare: HK$160/Member; HK$200/Non-member
Target Species: Seabirds
Arrangement: The boat will leave Sai Wan Ho and go to Po Toi Island directly. The group will then have free time on the island and participants are suggested to have their lunch on the island. The group should be back to the boat around 12:00-1:00 (depends on the leader's decision) and then the boat will stay in the Lamma Channel in the afternoon to look for seabirds and back to the pier at Sai Wan Ho at 4:00pm. Please note that this is a brief arrangement and the activity leader will have the right to make the final decision.

Limited to 45 participants only - please return the registration form together with the fare to HKBWS Office for registration.

We will confirm the participants about 5 days before the outing whether their reservation application is accepted or not. All the registered participants are required to pay the prescribed fare, no matter they can attend the outing or not. Withdrawal must be raised at least ONE week before the activity, otherwise, no refund will be made. If we cancel the outing due to inclement weather or special reason, the paid fare will be refunded to the participants.

目標鳥種：海鳥
行程安排: 由西灣河開船後會直接到蒲台島，大隊會在蒲台島上有自由時間(各自觀鳥)，建議參加者在島上午膳。大約到正午十二時至一時左右返回船上，然後船會開往南丫海峽尋找海鳥，到大約下午四時返回西灣河。請注意，活動領隊將有權更改及決定當日行程安排。

名額只限45位，請把報名表格連同費用寄/交回香港觀鳥會辦公室報名參加 (本會會員有優先參與權利)

本會將於活動舉行前約五天確認參加者的報名是否被接受，無論參加者能否出席，都必須繳付所需的交通費用。如要退出活動，必須在活動前最少一星期提出，否則不予退款。如果是次活動是因為惡劣天氣或特殊情況而被本會取消，本會將會退回參加者所繳付的費用。

Great outing, we saw a Great(?) Frigatebird (found by Ben), and 5 species of Terns.

HKBWS outing to Po Toi, 25 April 2010, cloudy at first, weak sunlight in pm, mild (about 20-24 degree), strong wind (grade 5 to 6), dry

There are 40 species on Po Toi, and 10 more species from the sea.  I like to thank all the participants for help to find these birds.  If there are additional species that I miss, please post that up in the reply.  Thank you.

The numbers given here for Little Tern are far too low. This was the commonest tern from the boat yesterday - I think the final estimate was 50-60. I also saw Gull-billed Tern from the boat, and Blue Rock Thrush and Long-tailed Shrike on Po Toi.
