My English birder mate noticed what appeared to be at least 1, and possibly two, Red-turtle doves in amonst the Oriental and Spotted Doves around the feeders at the Mai Po Duck Ponds. This would be a first for me. Neil.

The circled bird is certainly Red Turtle-dove, a male, and the bird on the extreme left appears to be a female, though it just could be a Collared Dove I suppose.

Yes, it is a Red Turtle Dove. The one on the left is also a Red Turtle Dove. Author: kmike Time: 5/01/2007 22:30
Hi Neil
I think the left-hand one in mid air is also a male Red Turtle Dove - reddish wings contrasting with grey rump.
Cheers
