Don't forget to report details of this bird (http://www.awsg.org.au/reportform.php).
It will be interesting to know where and when it was ringed and whether there are any other sightings. Author: yyattung Time: 12/05/2010 16:46
Please also forward the message to me (or pass to me first and I actually the information in the whole patch to our Australian colleague) because the Waterbird Monitoring Programme also collect the information or sighting of any flagged or ringed waterbirds in HK.
This bird was flagged Beachport, approximate co-ordinates 37deg 25min S, 140deg 2min E, which uses the flag combination Orange Engraved/Yellow, on 28/02/2008.
The resighting was a distance of approximately 7196 km, with a bearing of 333 degrees, from the marking location.
Given that the bird has probably another 6000 km to go before reaching the breeding grounds, it is amazing to think that the Turnstones that pass through HK travel at least 26,000 km each year. Author: mbill Time: 14/05/2010 00:20
