Northern Spain is great for Birds of Prey, none more so than Vultures. One of the best places to see them is the village of Riglos in Arragon Province and I was fortunate to be able to spend an afternoon there on a recent visit to the Spanish Pyrenees.
Red sandstone outcrops behind the village have small caves which are the nesting sites for vultures.
By climbing up to the top level, you are at the same height as the vultures and can get very good views.
Of the three species which are regular in Spain, I saw Griffon and Egyptian Vultures here, unfortunately missing out on the Bearded Vulture or Lammergeier which are also in the area.
Here some photos of the many Griffon Vultures which were around
It would be great to see a Vulture in Hong Kong this winter - I think the last record of a Black Vulture was more than 10 years ago.
