I have talked to some people participating in the race, but nobody want to post anything. Here is a modified plan for the bird race after considering those comments.
1. The race date ramains on 9 to 10 April.
2. The time of the race is adjusted to 13:00 to 13:00.
3. The finishing point is Mai Po or a restaurant just outside Fairview Park. Lunch and race conclusion party will also be at this restaurant.
4. School teams and Crested Bulbul Club teams will participate only on the 10th, from 08:00 to 13:00, and their race result will be judged separately.
Points to note:
1. Finishing at 13:00 allows the whole event to conclude at about 16:00. So the day will not be too tired. Participants can rest well before going to work next day.

9 April 2010 12:15 - 2.5 m
15:00 - 2.0 m
10 April 2010 11:15 - 2.0 m
13:00 - 2.4 m
With this tide, team can decide to do Mai Po on either 9th or 10th, or on both days. This actually allow possibility to start on Po Toi island, and then do a decent seabird trip to get seabirds.
3. From recent comments, there are many teams preferring to have training/practice on bird id. For example, identifying bird call in Tai Po Kau and id of waders. This is important for attracting more teams from secondary schools, and also important for some teams to improve on their race result. So we will organize some training activities just before the race. Details will be announced later.
