Wondering why you are so good at capturing these fast-moving swifts and swallows! Author: John Holmes Time: 20/02/2011 19:07 Subject: Asian House Martin
Hi Cherry,
Thanks for your compliment, but this is the best out of about 300 shots with the camera set manually at 1/2500 sec. and ISO 2000 in dull light. Most are just NOT in good focus, even with a camera like the 1D MK IV.
Actually I'm checking House Martins carefully this spring, hoping to see, maybe, a "Common" House Martin.
But the dark chin, dark wing lining, small white rump and brownish-looking flanks on this bird - and all the others I saw yesterday - are characteristic of Asian House Martin.
I'll just have to keep trying !

Hi John,
Thank you very much for sharing your experience in taking photos for flying House Martins.
Hope you'll soon find a House Martin that is not an Asian House Martin.
Cherry
